“New insights on economics and gender” Panel discussion at conference on Women and Girls Rising (Roosevelt Institute, New York)
In September 2014, the Roosevelt Institute hosted the Women and Girls Rising: Historical Reflections and Future Prospects conference at the Ford Foundation in New York City. The two-day convening was an opportunity for policymakers, activists and scholars to strategize about how to ensure that women and girls around the world have the rights and opportunities they need to drive the prosperity and security of their families, communities and nations. Over the two days, some 60 speakers from 25 countries addressed subjects including sexual and reproductive rights, girls’ education, labor in the workplace and the home, child marriage, environmental sustainability and 21st-century movement building. This video features the session on New Insights from Economics, chaired by Jenni Klugman and panellists Isobel Coleman, Aala Abdelgadir and Naila Kabeer (see book section for the publication from this event)
